The Sydney Variotram was the first modern low floor tram in Australia and was the first production model of the Variotram, introduced in 1997, despite being a 90% redesign of the original Chemnitz design by the legendary Australian railway engineer John Dunn. The fleet was withdrawn from service in 2015 at a young age of 18, to be replaced with sub-par quality CAF Urbos 3s, to avoid the need to perform a half life refurbishment. The remaining Variotram LRVs where stored in Western Sydney for 3 years waiting for a buyer. A buyer was not found, and as a result all but 1 Variotram where scrapped, with the survivor, Variotram 2107 being preserved at the Sydney Tramway Museum, Loftus NSW, where at the time of writing is the only operational low-floor tram in preservation in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die Variobahn in Sydney war die erste Niederflurtram in Australien und wurde 1997 basierend auf die Chemnitzer Variobahn entwickelt. Bereits 2015 wurde die Baureihe mit jungen 18 Betriebsjahren aus dem Verkehr gezogen, um die Ert\u00fcchtigung zu umgehen und dem Nachfolger Urbos3 der CAF deren Einsatz zu erm\u00f6glichen. Nachdem drei Jahre lang kein K\u00e4ufer der abgestellten Fahrzeuge gefunden wurde, wurden bis auf ein Fahrzeug verschrottet. Zum Release Zeitpunkt ist 2107 das weltweit einzige museal erhaltene Niederflurfahrzeug.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
